Home Improvement in Charleston

CharlestonWISE is a South Carolina home improvement program which is aimed at helping residents of the city of Charleston save money and reduce their energy use. The program was originally intended to be a partnership between the city government and the private sector, but has since been handed over to a nonprofit called Sustainability Institute for operations, with funding from both federal and private grants.
The program is only for Charleston residents at present, but the plans are to expand it to surrounding areas soon. The program works by helping property owners navigate the complicated process of deciding on the most cost-efficient home improvements that can reduce their energy consumption. It helps people with things like scheduling assessments and choosing contractors, as well as applying for tax credits and other rebates.
