As you can see at the titles, these Norwegians play metal with a lot of humor, party metal if you will. Catchy (mostly) mid-tempo songs, good guitar solos, pretty straight forward songwriting and a good metal singer. Good musicianship in general BTW, which you'd sometimes forget when listening to songs in this genre (but they make up for it in the last two songs on the album!). Don't think of Tankard too quick when you see a title like "Beerrun", these guys are less thrashy, more typical metal. There is enough variation, from ballads like "Rough Love" and "Juicy Lucy" to headbangers like "Beerrun", "Too Slow Above" and "Deliverance" (chilling guitar solo there!), but most of it is mid-tempo. Musically I like some songs better than others, but the lyrics are extremely over-the-top cheesy yet funny and their charisma and humor is without doubt their strength! "Deliverance" and "Opus Suite" are the exceptions, these two instrumentals close the album and it's as if they also wanted to show that they really know how to play, and not just party metal. Great songs containing a lot of guitar-fireworks! These songs lift the score to a 4, but on the condition you appreciate their sense of humor. Of course it ends kinda over the top as well, in good Van Halen ("Eruption") style (although "Opus Suite" is actually a tribute to Malmsteen, a part of the song and the guitarsound does remind me of "Eruption" a lot). Nicely done! And don't worry, these songs will also fit in at your party since they are great for playing air guitar :) Have fun!
