We can't avoid mentioning religion if we want to talk about the American band Acheron. While you are reading their biography you find more information about satanism and scandals than about their music. Well, my duty here is not to judge their religious views and ideology but their music. But of course the lyrics, the cd layout and everything else is in connection with their satanism.

Apocalyptic death metal - they labelled themselves and that is true. Mid paced drum themes are the base of the music that is more or less old-school death metal. Monotonous riffings are teaming up with the drums to create a sinister and heavy atmosphere. This all is spiced up with such guitar solos that could be used in progressive bands as well. And exactly these solos are top off the apocalyptic side of the music. They have got some doom influences in their music too. The start of "Betrayed (A Broken Part)" is so slow, you begin to think about if it is possible to play slower... Only the last song of the album seems not to make any sense to me. It is a nine minute long whistling voice only.
Vincent's half growling vocals are typical. I know he is the originator behind Acheron but if he switched only to bass and would look for a more characteristic vocalist, their fans would not be disappointed.

This is their seventh album - if I am right - and I have to admit their music is convincing.
