Whenever I hear the name Theory In Practice my attention has been caught. Drummer Henrik Ohlsson and vocalist Kjell Andersson (Azotic Reign) started Altered Aeon in 2001 and it's not as extreme as Theory In Practice, but certainly as technical. Most songs have the same ingredients, but those ingredients are very diverse: from fast Bay Area or Dark Angel thrash to Zero Hour prog to a few doomy passages - and everything in between. The vocals are also diverse: thrash vocals are combined with cleaner vocals that remind me of bands like Forbidden and Nevermore. The listener is in for a ride through hi-tech metal-land with a lot of different landscapes. The incredibly high level of musicianship as well as this diversity keeps it fascinating all the way, but the songs on itself don't really get stuck in your head, a bit more variation between the songs wouldn't hurt. If you find a version with the two bonustracks you'll have one track that differs a lot from the rest, the instrumental beauty "Cellular Disorganization". For everyone who wants their metal to be intelligent!
