Apiary's music is not for the lazy listener. These Californians love to create a brutal mix of metalcore, in-your-face tight riffing and weird changes, resulting in a challenging product that leaves you clueless and confused at first, but wanting to come back for more in order to try and get a grip on their controlled chaos. Think metalcore meets Meshuggah with a dash of Zero Hour. Singer (screamer) Jason Ingram screams in a fairly monotonous yet hypnotizing way, which just adds to the brutality.

I couldn't pick one particular song out (except for the last one) and I guess you best enjoy this record as one big mindboggling roller coaster ride, because despite the many unpredictable rhythms and some unexpected breakdowns, the differences between the songs themselves aren't very big (which can make it a long ride). I know that sounds funny coming from someone who wouldn't take a ride in a real roller coaster if her life depended on it - but musically I can handle it very well ;) Closer "Finding A Way Back" is the last part before the roller coaster ends and lets you wind down a bit in a slower (but still haunting and driven) and very dark fashion. And after the ride some people may be a bit nauseous, but the die-hard riders will just say "Again!".
