When Flemming C. Lund's band Autumn Leaves split up, he joined Invocator, but also started to write music for his new project Scavenger. Nothing much happened until 2003, when he found musicians for his band. They recorded a promo in 2004/2005, which got them signed to Metal Blade and they changed their name to The Arcane Order. In April 2006 the band entered the Jacob Hansen Studio again to record this debut album, "The Machinery Of Oblivion".

When you know that Jacob Hansen produced the album, you can be sure the sound is powerful and in your face. Which suits the music perfectly, because the Swedish style thrash of these Danes is most of the time very fast and aggressive, but there also is room for melody in a Soilwork/In Flames kind of way. It's all very tight and Raunchy shouter Kasper Thomsen sings, grunts and screams like it's nobody's business. "Infinite Ghost Anathema" is very In Flames-ish, "The Superior Collision" has more of a technical death feel, but the chorus is again pretty catchy. "In A Hail Of Deadly Bullets" starts with a wonderful melodic guitar solo before really setting off full speed ahead, which gives you a moment to breathe. There are however not a lot (for me: not enough) of those moments. But generally this track is not as fast as e.g. the following "Servants Of A Darker World". The album continues in that vein until the partly slower and groovier (in the beginning) "A Sevenfold Condemnation", which is easier to get into. Kasper still squirms himself in all kinds of positions vocally, awesome song! "Breathe The Poison" stands out with its melodic chorus and GREAT guitar solo. The closer "The Sanity Insane" has again a very melodic and catchy chorus. If you're into that, plus some tight thrash riffs, relentless drumming, a versatile singer and great guitar solos (I totally love the melodic ones!!), then you have to check this album. My favorite songs are "Breathe The Poison" and "The Sanity Insane", the ones with both melodic choruses and solos. The others have a tendency to lose my attention before they are done.
