5. Wheel Of Fate
If I tell you that the Armada play power metal you might think they're one of those happy bands. Think again! This is German metal extraordinaire, a solid metal base provided by drummer Peter Langer (ex-Stormwitch) and bassplayer Matthias Mailänder (yes, brother of the Brainstorm bassist), with excellent riffs and melodies by guitarist Damir Uzunovic (also ex-Stormwitch) and keyboardplayer Mathias Nagl and with powerful and most of all soulful vocals by Dirk Schäffner!!

This demo CD contains two intros and three "real" songs. And what's most important: all really good compositions! "Tribal Dance" is my favorite, it drags a bit more than the others, and the slightly oriental melody/vocal lines are just killer! What a song! "Voices" and "Wheel Of Fate" are a bit more uptempo, with heavy riffing but still those beautiful melodies of the keyboards in the background, beautiful solos and the soulful vocals of Dirk, that by the way remind me of some Ayreon vocalists like Leon Goewie and Robert Soeterboek. In "Wheel Of Fate" he pushes it a bit too far (tries to sing higher than he should in my opinion), but that would be the only drawback of an otherwise really superb CD!! If the rest of their songwriting is of this quality this band should appeal to a big range of metalfans and deserve all the success in the world!
