Berserkers were insane viking warriors so when I've heard about a band that's name is The Berzerker first I thought it is some kind of a viking metal band. But I had to realize this band is coming from the hot Australia, playing super fast death-grind.
Their half an hour long 'masterpiece' consist of 14 songs but I can tell you for sure, it's just enough from this noise mess. It simple tramples you down and also the sensitive glass stuff in your near. Otherwise, you could listen to several gun machines in work with guitars' support in the background because they are attacking your eardrums with super fast drum themes. There are always guessing about if it is really a result of a human drummer abilities or did they recruited the help of a drum machine because most of the time it sounds there are at least 3 people handling each part of the drum kit. Actually it's been officially confirmed that their drummer exceeded to hit the drums 1148 times in one minute in the cover version of Carcass "Corporal Jigsore Quandary" but that's an extremely high number and it makes you doubting.
What makes the band original compared to others in this style is the industrial-machine like sound they have, that even gives a bit of techno feeling to the music sometimes. For the first time you may think your speakers induced, but no, it's just their speciality. The 'normal' things about the album are the layered, effected vocals, that is just as aggressive as it should have to be, and the death metal rooted guitar themes, those are even sound nice next to the extremely fast drums.
Well, the 30 minutes is over and if you still alive, you will never forget about this experience. If you enjoyed it, give it another try, even on a louder volume again.
It's an example of what means to be an extreme band nowadays but I have a slight fear that this kind of music will become more and more popular, actually what is good, but it may also have bigger impact on the metal scene in general and thinking about that I can't decide right now if I shall cry or smile….
