Bolt Thrower has been around for quite some time now and everyone is likely to have heard or read something about them. "Those Once Loyal" is their 8th full length album, and it features their former vocalist Karl Willetts.

To be honest I had never heard any tracks from Bolt Thrower, but the first thing that caught my attention was the fact that their vocalist sounded a lot like Chris Barnes or vice versa. I also think that they sound a bit like each other. SFU has a more speed than them but Bolt Thrower is more melodic and sounds better than SFU. Bolt Thrower has a lot of diversity and groove yet they are very very heavy! The guitars are very dominating and catchy, I also love their solos on this album. This album offers a great mix of both groove and speed, personally I think they could have used more speed. The tracks that have that great mix are "Entrenched" and "Last Stand of Humanity" and of course they were my favourite tracks on this album. The tracks that didn't have a lot of fast parts started to sound a bit monotonous after a while but the heaviness is what keeps it interesting.

This is a good album, I don't think that the Bolt Thrower fans will be disappointed. I would definitely recommend this album to the fans of heavy groove oriented metal with death metal vocals.
