When Overlorde reunited in 2000 I was very happy to see one of my favorite singers joining the line-up, Bobby "Leather Lungs" Lucas (ex-Seven Witches, Exhibition). The band was only known from a 1987 EP and released a demo after the reunion that showed that Overlorde still had all the talent, fire and power, and probably even more than before with Lucas at the mike!
So now in 2004 they finally release a full album, incl. two songs we know from the 1987 EP ("Snow Giant" and the band hymne "Overlorde") and the 4 mindblowing demosongs from 2000. And I don't even know where to begin in describing this masterpiece... instead of going through all the songs I'll just tell you that this is true US metal in it's very VERY best form! The musicians are top notch, great solos by Mark Edwards, the songs are very strong and diverse compositions that just don't grow old, ever! It's hard to pick favorites, except for one: "Blackness"!! That song is so insane that I would give it at least a 6 out of 5! But to me the most mindblowing aspect of this album are Bobby Lucas' vocals *not worthy*! Already a passionate, powerful and just very unique sounding voice in the 'normal' vocallines (not annoyingly high or anything like many others) - wait until he screams! Oh man, you feel the adrenaline through your body and the goosebumps on your skin. Unsurpassed class!!
