   AFTER FOREVER

http://www.afterforever.com/

Well, I got this great opportunity to do an interview with Floor Jansen from After Forever. Since it was my first interview ever AND because this is one of my favorite bands, I was really nervous but once I sat down with her everything was okay. So here it is!!! ;-)

How are you doing today..??

Hahaha, I'm fine thanx!

What's the latest news with After Forever??

Well, we're playing at all kinds of great festivals and we've just released a new single called "Digital deceid" which also has a video-clip. We have a new keyboard-player, his name is Joost van de Broek; he's replacing Lando. And further no special news.

How does it feel to play at festivals?

Well, it's great. It's always nice to meet new bands. At festivals you reach a lot of people that came for you in particular so you get to meet your fans. The whole atmosphere is very good.

What's the most a fan has ever done for you, the weirdest thing?

The weirdest thing somebody has done for us, well, let me think....Raising our fanclub, hahaha!

Which bands would you like to tour with?

Whoooooooo, with many bands actually. We toured with Nightwish before, I would love to do that again. Masterplan is a band I really like, usually bands that I really like or a band like Queensryche would be nice.

In what countries has After Forever toured before and where would you like to go?

So far we toured in Holland, Belgium, France, Spain, Germany and South America. I'd like to see the North of America and the rest of Europe and maybe Japan.

Do you compare After Forever to other bands?

I don't do it myself but the rest of the world does. Of course there are similarities with others but I'd prefer not to do that.

Floor Jansen © Nico Wobben Why don't you like the comparison?

Because we have a sound of our own, it's important for us to be a band with our own particular sound and particular things and our own style. If you compare yourself with others then you will lose you own identity. If somebody compares us to Nightwish, of course it's fine with me because it's a very good band. On the other hand I do want to say that we have things in common but we have a sound of our own of course.

Is the reaction of your fans on the new album what you hoped it would be?

It's very cool, yeah! It's better than I hoped. I really hoped that for our third album it would be a step forward, that you keep on growing. For the first two we've growed allot and I hoped that for the third it would happen again and that people will notice that After Forever is alive and they're better than before. That's the reaction we got so I'm very satisfied with that.

What is the difference between this album and the previous ones?

I think that the sound has become heavier, we worked a lot on how to write songs. I think the structures of the songs became better, more complicated music but still it has catchy sounds and choruses. I think the vocals got more space and the instruments have found their place in the music.

Any future plans for After Forever?

Well, first, we'll keep on touring in the Netherlands. We're also working very hard to go to Germany. I hope we can tour in foreign countries, maybe South America again. We've started writing new songs again and I hope we can go to the studio again in the summer of next year. We're going to be rehearsing and playing next year.

Who or what influenced you to write songs?

I think everything I hear is an influence, I don't have artists or bands in particular that influence me. When I hear a good vocalist or band I remember it and I will unconciously use that influence.

What do you think about the people who misinterpret your music?

I can't judge the people that I don't know in person. I think it's a pitty if you judge music wrongly because you misinterpreted it so I would say: listen to it again. We don't write music for everybody so if there are people out there who don't like it, too bad...

Any last words for your fans?

I hope everybody will keep enjoying After Forever as much as we do and I hope that they will keep supporting us as great as they have so far.
