   AGENT STEEL - AFTER ALL
After All © Nico Wobben De Bosuil - Weert (NL)

It was time for an old-fashioned thrash metal night! It had been 6 years since Nico and I had seen Agent Steel, so we were excited! A nice bonus was getting After All as the opening band and seeing a bunch of good friends again *hicks*

Belgian thrashers AFTER ALL came to present their new album "The Vermin Breed" - two of the songs they played are "Unnamed Sorrow" and "Forgotten". I can only compare this show to the one time I've seen them with Anthrax, and I noticed that I really liked singer Piet Focroul this time. It was a great set and a solid performance, esp. of guitarists Dries Van Damme and Christophe Dupree. They've been on some great tours already and it payed off! After All ended the set with the Exodus cover "Piranha".

Agent Steel © Nico Wobben The turnout wasn't very big this evening (which surprised me), but the small audience did come alive when the masters of metal, AGENT STEEL, came on stage. They started with an old classic, "Unstoppable Force" and it immediately showed that Bruce Hall's voice was in incredible great shape!! After 3 songs it became clear what we were here for: this tour was about the 20th anniversary of the debut album "Skeptics Apocalypse" and they simply played the whole album! The 80's fans Agent Steel © Nico Wobben in the crowd went nuts :) Then they played over half of the "Order Of The Illuminati" CD and ended with 3 great songs from the other albums, special mention for the "Mad Locust Rising" EP title song! This gig was an awesome time travel thanks to Bruce Hall's siren and blood, sweat and tears performances of the whole band: Karlos Medina on bass, Rigo Amezcua on drums, the master of metal himself: Juan Guarcia on guitar and filling in (live) for Bernie Versailles was Tim Thomas (New Eden, Steel Prophet), who I knew and met before, but I had yet to see him play, so that was really cool! What a party! :)
