This event on a sunday afternoon & early night was more than just another concert, but Theo of Rock Inc. had also added some promotional elements. The Dutch band Morning kicked off for (unfortunately) a handful of people, then Perzonal War presented their new video, Metalium played their set for still not a whole lot of people and at the end it was time to listen to the new rock opera of Medea. I interviewed Saskia & Mauro of Morning, Metti of Perzonal War and Henry of Medea, so I only saw parts of both live sets. A somewhat unusual review for an unsual but, despite a low turnout, pretty cool day!
When MORNING started their set I was already interviewing Metti (Perzonal War), but I was able to see the last half of their set. I love their debut album "Hour Of Joy" so I had been looking forward to see them again (last time was a couple of years ago). Unfortunately there
weren't a lot of people, but those who were there seem to enjoy it, even though they weren't very loud ;) The band has become very tight and Saskia is a charming and enthusiastic front woman with a great voice. I certainly had a good time! They played most songs from "Hour Of Joy" and ended with one of my favorite tracks, "Inside".
setlist Morning:
Intro
Hour Of Joy
The Unknown Is Searching The Unfound
Circle Of Power
This Unreachable Mess
When Shadows Dance In Light
Perception Of Feelings
Captured By The Colour Of Faith
The Show Must Go On
Inside

After Morning's set it was time for PERZONAL WAR to show us their new video of "For The Last Time", a song from the new album "When Times Turn Red". The video shows the band in a black and red room, playing and occasionally hanging from the ceiling and Metti wearing red contact lenses. Then they showed a 10 or so minute "making of" video of the new album, which gave some insight in the recordings, but even more so in their great sense of humor :)
First song of METALIUM after the intro was "Fight", so that was immediately great for me, as I still know the older albums better than the last ones (not that they are not as good!). I've always loved this band and seen them live several times, but the last time had been a few years back already. There were still not many people there, but there was a small enthusiastic group and
the band made a party out of it anyway. Henning had a little trouble with his voice, but it was still great and he regularly tried to let us sing along. We weren't loud, but we did our best ;) Below you can see the setlist, copied from the one of stage. Unfortunately 3 of my very favorite Metalium songs had been striken from the list: "Prophecy", "Metamorphosis" and "Steel Avenger", but I most likely would have missed them anyway, for I was called away twice for the interviews with Morning and Medea during Metalium's gig. But there were still a lot of songs to enjoy or clap and sing along to and the highlight of their show is of course the spectacular fire-spitting during the song "Metalium" of both Lars and Mattias!

The stage area of the venue got seperated from the bar for cleaning, and in the bar we were able to chill with the sounds of the symphonic rock opera "Room XIV", the new CD of MEDEA a.k.a. Henry Meeuws of Casual Silence. A lot of the guest singers were there as well as fans and friends, for after 19.00 the entrance was free for this listening session. It's Henry's solo project, featuring drummer Fon Janssen, 11 guest singers and a men's choir! Everyone who likes rock/metal operas should give this a listen!
More info in the Morning, Perzonal War (online soon!), Metalium (last April) and Medea (online early January) interviews!
